LINC expands in the North Kansas City, Mo. School District
LINC will expand its presence in the North Kansas City, Mo. School District this upcoming school year with its Caring Communities initiative at six elementary schools - five of them brand new to LINC's "community schools" efforts.
LINC will continue at Crestview Elementary, which has been a Caring Communities site since 1999. Five other elementary schools - Chouteau, Davidson, Maplewood, Topping and West Englewood - are new to LINC.
The six schools have a combined enrollment of 2,100 of which 63% are on free lunch - a general measure of family income and poverty. North Kansas City is the largest Missouri school district in the metropolitan area and is experiencing changing demographics as an inner ring suburb.
LINC will operate a Before and After School program at Topping with a full-time LINC site coordinator. The other schools will also have a LINC site coordinator - a full time coordinator at Crestview and two full-time coordinators split between the remaining four sites.
LINC staff in North Kansas City will be Kathy Monson (Crestview), Sheila Marshall (Topping), Jerome Williams (Davidson and West Englewood), and Adrian Wilson (Chouteau and Maplewood).
LINC had a presence at Eastgast Middle School and Winnetonka High School, but will not in the upcoming school year so that more resources can be focused on the elementary schools.
