Grandparents Day Out

Grandparents raising grandchildren got a little help from our Grandparents Day Out program in June.

The one-week program, hosted by Swope Ridge Geriatric Center, was at capacity with 20 children. One of our partners, Mosaic Brain, led Swope Ridge residents and the children through inter-generational arts and exercises that help youth develop a healthy appreciation of aging and the elderly.

The children also enjoyed field trips to Worlds of Fun, bowling, and skating. In cooperation with the Missouri Department of Conservation students participated in educational activities at Burr Oaks Nature Center.

Grandparents Day Out is funded in part by a grant from the Mid-America Regional Council’s Area Agency on Aging.
