Bert Berkley receives honorary degree

LINC founder Bert Berkley received an honorary degree from Missouri Valley College (Marshall, Mo.) on May 8.

The honorary degreee, in part, recognized Berkley for his many civic accomplishments including his idea to create the Local Investment Commission (LINC) in 1992.

Berkley discussed his ideas about volunteering and entreprenuership in his commencement address. Download address.

“His work in the greater Kansas City area and nationally is truly inspiring, and I think he has a great story to share with our graduates,” said Missouri Valley College President Bonnie Humphrey about Berkley's selection to give the school's commencement address and receive an honorary degree.

Berkley is the coauthor of the book Giving Back: Connecting You, Business, and Community.
