Independence School District publishes book about community involvementThe Independence School District has published a new book titled Inspiring Greatness: A Community's Commitment to a Brighter Future.
The book recounts community efforts, response and outcomes from the transfer of seven schools from the Kansa
s City, Mo. School District to the Independence School District.The seven schools were part of the Kansas City, Mo. School District but located within the city of Independence. Voters from both school districts approved the transfer in August 2007.The book will be available at www.isdinspiringgreatness.org or through www.indep.k12.mo.us.Independence School Supt. Jim Hinson shared the district's efforts and the book during the Coalition for Community Schools National Forum in Philadelphia in April 2010.
