Palestine Neighborhood Plans Night Out Against Crime Aug. 3
Palestine Neighborhood Development Corporation, working together with Oak Park, Vineyard, and Seven Oaks Neighborhood Associations will host their Night Out Against Crime on Aug. 3 from 5-8:30pm at Seven Oaks Park (39th & Jackson). There will be fun and games, refreshments, and community resource information for all who attend. For more information, call (816) 924-3211.
KCP&L volunteers help build garden classroom

Volunteers from Kansas City Power & Light worked alongside neighbors and children from our RISE UP summer program to help build a new "green" outdoor classroom. Two Oak Park neighborhood residents recently graduated from the University of Missouri's Master Gardeners class; they will share their new training with us and help make this project both fun and successful. Our hope is that this garden model can be replicated throughout the community, involving more neighbors and nurturing friendships. The garden will feature 5 raised beds and 6 benches, all made from recycled power poles. In addition to the technical skills of their employees, KCP&L also donated top soil and the use of an auger and other heavy equipment to complete the project. Click here to see more photos from the project.

The Palestine Neighorhood Caring Communities site is a partnership between LINC and the City of Kansas City, Mo. that was established the fall of 2007.
